Life Centre church is friendly and vibrant, comprising people from a variety of backgrounds and nationalities. We desire to raise up people who are free and walking in their full destiny in God, through the teaching of the Word and knowing Jesus. Beliefs
We believe in the Bible. It is the inspired Word of God and declares His design and plan for mankind.
We believe that God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to take the penalty of our sin so that we can become part of His family and have eternal life.
We are a part of the Assemblies of God (AoG, Great Britain) and share in the beliefs of AoG worldwide. Click below for full statement of faith:
History
The church was pioneered by George and Joan Chambers in the 1970’s. It began as a children’s ministry and eventually became known as Livingston Pentecostal Church, part of the Assemblies of God, Great Britain. George and Joan ministered faithfully for 30 years, proceeded by the arrival of Peter Cochrane (Previous superintendent of AoG Scotland) who ministered for 7 years. Melvyn and Merete Lawson are the current pastors, pastoring since 2012.
In 2009 Stoneyburn Pentecostal Church became part of Livingston Pentecostal Church, comprising one church with two locations. Stoneyburn Pentecostal Church was founded in 1914 and is one of the oldest Pentecostal Churches in Scotland.
In 2018 the church changed its name to Life Centre Livingston.
Leadership
Melvyn and Merete are accredited ministers with AoG (GB). Prior to becoming Pastors, Melvyn worked in the public sector and Merete in the Hi Tech Industry. Both are passionate about seeing the power of the Gospel transform lives. Melvyn and Merete have been extensively involved in evangelism and international missions throughout their lives. Both have a heart for revival and have been impacted by moves of God such as the Lakeland Revival.
